Now, I suppose I'm not the target audience for Robot
Chicken...heck, I suppose I'm not the target
audience for Star Wars for that matter...but
as I am a Star Wars geek, when you put the two together,
you've got my attention.
Basically,
with the DVD from Revolver
Entertainment, you get what it says on
the tin, which is a treasure trove of behind-the-scenes
tidbits. Ranging from Commentaries ; Trailers
; Deleted Scenes ; Panel Presentations etc and
the one thing that stands out in all of it is
the respect Seth Green and Matthew Senreich have
for the Star Wars saga - their geekness shines
through every frame.
The
story begins not long ago, in a galaxy not far
enough away where we see Emperor Palpatine receive
a reverse charge call from the Dark Lord announcing
the destruction of the Death Star, watch the droids
have trouble getting through airport security
and see Admiral Akbar selling out in an advert
for his own breakfast cereal. If that wasnt
enough to wet your appetite, George Lucas gets
saved from a mob of nerds at a Star Wars convention,
Luke and the Emperor settle things with a "yo
mama" fight and theres even a new unforgettable
addition to the Star Wars franchise with "Empire
on Ice" and thats just a snippet
of the 35 sketches featured!
After watching this hilarious show you won't be
asking what the hell is an aluminum falcon, you'll
know!! Oh and the Jar Jar haunting Vader is comedy
gold!

Robot
Chicken is an Emmy-Award Winning American stop
motion animated television series created by Seth
Green and Matthew Senreich, who are the executive
producers. They are also on the writing team,
and have directed some episodes. Green provides
many voices for the show.
The
program is a sketch comedy that parodies a number
of pop culture conventions using stop motion animation
of toys, action figures, dolls, and claymation
(usually for special effects) and various other
objects, such as tongue depressors and The Game
of Life pegs. The show's name was inspired by
a dish on the menu at a West Hollywood Chinese
restaurant, Kung Pao Bistro, where Green and Senreich
had dined, although the series originally was
intended to be titled "Junk in the Trunk".[1]
The
show is produced by Stoopid Monkey, ShadowMachine
Films, Williams Street, and Sony Pictures Digital,
and currently airs in the US as a part of Cartoon
Network's Adult Swim block, in the United Kingdom
and Ireland as part of Bravo's Adult Swim block,
in Canada on Teletoon's Detour block, in Australia
on The Comedy Channel's Adult Swim block and in
Latin America on the Cartoon Network's Adult Swim
block. It premiered on Sunday, February 20, 2005.
The
series was renewed for a 20-episode third season,
which started on August 12, 2007. The Robot Chicken
Season Two DVD was released September 4, 2007.
After
an eight month hiatus, the show returned on August
31, 2008 to air the remaining 5 season three episodes
beginning with Tubba-Bubba's Now Hubba-Hubba,
which also aired as an April Fool's Day prank.
