Yesterday at 03:31 PM Lego Price Hike? by Darth Palpy

Jedi News report on a worrying move by Lego:

Star Wars and LEGO fans were thrilled when the new Death Star (Set 10188) was revealed and here in the UK they were even happier at the UK's Ł200 price tag. Just over a week since this went on sale and LEGO have increased the price to Ł274.99 - a rise of almost 38%. This has angered and upset many UK LEGO collectors and we've contacted LEGO about this.

Yesterday at 10:19 AM CJ : Randy Martinez Attending by Darth Palpy

Courtesy of good friend and SWORA colleague Jose Fiuza here's some news from Randy Martinez himself:

Greeting Star Wars Fans! Celebration Japan is right around the corner and I am happy to announce there will once again be a Star Wars Artist's area. It's an esteemed group of artists from The United States, Japan, and the United Kingdom.

Artists include: Randy Martinez, Matt Busch, Tsuneo Sanda, Tsuyoshi Negano, Mark Mchaley, Spencer Brinkerhoff, Richard Chasemore, Malcolm Tween, Robert Hendrickson, Monte Moore, Otto Dieffenbach, Ryan Waterhouse, Erik Maell, Jason Poratz, Ralph McQuarrie, and Jason Palmer.

As many of you know Lucasfilm has once again granted the attending artists a one time License to sell limited Edition Prints at their Tables at Celebration Japan; just as they have for previous Star Wars Celebrations. Star Wars and Art collecting fans covet these prints, as they are only available at Star Wars Celebration Japan. To add to their exclusiveness each art design is limited to 250 prints. Read that again, only 250 Prints!

If you are going to Star Wars Celebration Japan, be sure to pick up these amazing Ultra Exclusive prints from the artists themselves! If you can't make use what ever jedi mind trick you know to get someone going to pick them up for you!

Celebration Japan will be an amazing experience, and I cannot wait to share it with my ultra talented friends. I am especially excited about my Limited Edition Print.

For my Limited Edition Print I wanted to do something really different, as this is the very first Official Star Wars Celebration in Japan and the Far East. It was important for me to bring a bit of American culture to SWCJ but I also wanted to show my respects to the Japanese traditions. So I created this piece that is inspired by both the “underground art” movement here in the United States, and traditional Japanese woodblock printing. You will notice the familiar tall vertical format of Japanese art, but you can also see the influence of underground art by the bold design and colors.

Staying true to both cultural influences each print is a HAND MADE Serigraph (or silk screen). Each print does not simply LOOK like an individual hand made piece of art, each piece IS a hand made piece of art.

The Theme of this piece is Darth Vader’s drive or burning motivation. Which is why I have titled this piece “Obsession”. Padme’s eyes seem to burn right through the back of Darth Vader’s Black Helmet, Haunting and tormenting him until he finds redemption.

The final details of this piece are the distinctive Japanese writing in the upper left hand side of this haunting piece. In Japanese it is pronounced “Shunen”, which means “an obsession, a deep attachment, tenacity, often used in a vile sense such as spite, a grudge or vindictiveness.”

All that in those two little characters!

For the final final detail, in the traditions of japans art, I have signed my name in Japanese along the lower right hand side.

Each piece is printed on 18 X 24 fine screen printing cover stock.

Each print will sell for 5400 JPY or $50 U.S. Dollars

I don’t know if you can tell, but I am very excited by this new piece I have created and cannot wait to make it available to all the fans.

But wait there is more!

In addition to this Limited Edition Print, I will also be drawing mini sketches, and 8 1/2X 11 sketches. But these are not ordinary sketches. Every sketch will bare the official Star Wars Celebration Japan Logo! These special sketches are only available during Star Wars Celebration Japan making these Sketches ULTRA RARE and UNIQUE!

I will also be selling my official Giclee Prints from Acme Archives. Bounty Hunters, Scoundrels, Indiana Jones-Eyes On adventure: Raiders, and Indiana Jones-Eyes On adventure: Crystal Skull. Each Giclee comes with a certificate of authenticity. Remarks are available by request.

To top my table off I will have lots of goodies available including program books from both Celebration Europe (The ever popular Sgt. Lucas) and Celebration IV.

05/07/2008 12:59 AM TCW: The Complete Plot - Updated by Darth Palpy

TFN present us with the first (in a series of three) part of their complete synopsis of The Clone Wars.

As Paul says before the spoilers begin:

SPOILER WARNING: As we've done before with the recent Star Wars novels, I want to sound a word of caution at this point. What follows is a second-hand summary of the PLOT, not the visceral EXPERIENCE of watching the film. There's a big difference between the raw storyline and the nuanced narrative of the movie itself.

Those of you who want to go into the movie theater without any preconceptions or prior awareness of the story should stop reading now. The rest of you, think first about whether you really want to read this...

If you do decide to read on, remember that this is just a sketch outline. It may lack important pieces of emphasis and presentation that contribute to the overall effect of the film.

Got all that? All right!

This is where the fun begins!

So, be careful when clicking the link below.

02/07/2008 01:14 AM Charles Ross Interview and Competition by Darth Palpy

Jedi News update with an interview with Charles "One Man Star Wars" Ross:

JN: What was your inspiration for putting the show together and did you start "from the beginning", or with segments from each movie that you linked
together?

CR: I went with what I could remember off the top of my head. I sat at a computer and tried to write the lines I could remember that told the story in the most expedient fashion.

Also, they have a great competition for you to win tickets to see the show at the venue of your choice:

Charles Ross is on a flight from Canada to the UK as we speak, ready to start his UK tour this Friday night in Norwich at the Playhouse Theatre. The tour runs for the whole of July and takes in 23 locations around the UK.

We've teamed up with his management company to give two free tickets to ANY one of the the UK tour dates!!!
