Today at 09:52 AM Senate Murders Screen Caps by Darth Palpy
Just to whet my overseas friends appetities for the latest episode of The Clone Wars (S2-E15), Senate Murders, I've put together a selection of screen captures that, while I've tried to give nothing away, I feel `captures` the spirit of this rather peculiar but nonetheless interesting and enjoyable episode.

Simply click on the thumbnail for a bigger pic.

Today at 07:41 AM Senate Murders Airs in UK First by Darth Palpy
Well, Episode 15 of The Clone Wars animated TV series had its world premiere in the UK March 13th, 2010.

Intentional?

Well, it has taken a few people by surprise (myself and iTunes included):

Courtesy of TFN

"Senate Murders" Available Early On iTunes

If you've been dying to get back into The Clone Wars, iTunes may be the way to go, at least for "Senate Murders." The fifteenth episode of TCW Season 2 is, as of this writing, available early on iTunes for the regular TV show price of $1.99. The reason for its availability ahead of TV broadcast remains a mystery, although it may be connected to today's U.K. premiere of the episode. Either way, Clone Wars fans are counting their blessings this morning because of a little gift, intentional or not, from Lucasfilm.

You can download The Clone Wars: Senate Murders here (warning: link opens in iTunes).

Thanks to Andrew Lupi on Twitter for the heads-up!

UPDATE: I'm told by the ForceCast's Jimmy Mac that the episode, while still present in the iTunes Store, reports a "No Longer Available" message upon attempts to purchase it.
"

Now THAT is weird but certainly not unwelcome...was a nice surprise to see it was a new episode yesterday morning instead of an episode I'd already seen.

Yesterday at 01:14 PM Empire Chronicles by Darth Palpy
Celebrating 30 Years of The Empire Strikes Back, SW.Com brings us a new series of articles, Empire Chronicles:

With our launch of "Empire Chronicles," a new series which explores many of the characters, vehicles, and settings from The Empire Strikes Back, we begin with an in-depth look at one of the film's most unforgettable pieces of military hardware: the All Terrain Armored Transport, or AT-AT for short. We've combed through dozens of sources documenting the creation of this intimidating weapon of the Empire, from early issues of the highly-regarded special effects journal Cinefex to the now-elusive video commentary tracks featured on 1993's Definitive Collection laserdisc set (remember those?). From these we've culled quotes or passages from the individuals directly responsible for conceiving, building, filming, or breathing life into the AT-AT, and have scoured our Image Archives for photos documenting its creation, some of which have rarely been seen.

* FREE SHIPPING of the mammoth toy - a $30 savings! (This offer applies to continental US only.)

Super7 s Early Bird program concludes at 12:00am Midnight PST next Wednesday, March 17th. The Star Wars Stormtrooper Super Shogun stands a whopping 24 inches tall, and includes all of the features that you expect from an authentic Jumbo: free rotating wheels on the bottom of his feet, and a spring-loaded Rocket Punch firing fist.

Utilizing the same techniques implemented by Japanese toy manufacturers in the 1970s, the Super Shogun is constructed from durable, blow-molded polyethylene with a painted vinyl helmet. The figure is articulated at the neck and shoulders, and includes a removable, highly-detailed BlasTech E-11 laser blaster, which even features a posable stock that unfolds from below the barrel.

This marks the first authentic Super Shogun produced in over twenty-five years.

03/03/2010 09:16 AM Extraordinary Measures - Review by Darth Palpy
Regular visitors to GEN will know I don't do a lot of reviews but I'll try and rectify that in the future.

Mind you, don't expect anything TOO wordy, I'm just a film fan not a paid critic!

I suppose being a Father now, that films like Extraordinary Measures hit me a little harder in the heart than they used to these days.

Brendan Fraser puts in a stellar performance as John Crowley, a man who will stop at nothing to try and save his childrens lives from a rare genetic disorder.

Ably assisted by a gruff Harrison Ford as Dr. Stonehill, we're taken on a journey of two very different men who are striving for the same result.

I really enjoyed Extraordinary Measures and it is a fine first film for CBS Films and Mr Fords first foray as an Executive Producer.

A well written script, well acted by a great supporting cast and a nice linear tale to the happy ending that I'm pleased to say is inspired by true life events.

Well worth a watch, oh and take a hanky!!!

GEN Rating (8/10 Death Stars)

24/02/2010 05:24 PM Rest In Peace John G Bramley 1980-2010 by Darth Palpy
John G Bramley

John left his home in Skewen last week to go for a run but did not return.

Police formally identified his body, which was found by a member of the public in Dyffryn Woods near Bryncoch yesterday (Tuesday), around a mile and a half from the nearest main road.

Fears had been growing for the safety of 30-year-old John, who was last seen at around 2.30pm on Friday.

He was an enthusiastic runner whose previous routes included Drumau Mountain, to the north of Skewen and previously served in the Army in Iraq.

To a Dear Nephew, You will be missed greatly.
