Judging by a lot of the pasting this movie is getting by professional critics I'm puzzled...puzzled by what they actually expected from this. I expected an animated version of Star Wars... *check* I expeced to enjoy the visuals... *check* I expected to enjoy the music... *check* I was not expecting the second-coming of Christ... *check* I must say I enjoyed this movie, not because I'm a Lucas disciple or a rabid devourer of all-things-star-wars...far from it, I personally think a lot of the Expanded Universe in novel form should be sent to the spice mines of Kessel or smashed into who knows what. No, I enjoyed this movie because it is fun, just like Star Wars has always been. The battle scenes were crafted well, the voice actors superb, especially the inspired voice of Ziro the Hutt, reminding me of Truman Capote. The `make-up` on the Hutt didn't make me think `gay`, though some might, how little we have moved on in 40 years...the `make-up` suggested to me flamboyance...how else could a Hutt stand out in the mecca that is Coruscant? The movie was a lot of fun AND a GREAT introduction to the forthcoming TV series, which will maintain the standard set here. GEN Rating (8/10 Death Stars):

Sorry, Palpy, I think you're outnumbered, 2-1. I'd have to agree with D Revenge that the cartoon style was awful. It took me a whole 15 minutes just to get into the movie based on the cartoon style. Also, I don't know why they added Anakin's apprentice, or threw Jabba the Hutt's family into it. Those two were factors unnecessary to add to the OS (original series). In fact, it actually created more questions than answers. Granted, this would be considered part of the EU, but it reminds me of the debates with a certain Zahn character, er, person.

Over, did I enjoy it? Yes.
However, it did not have that "feature film" feel, not even an animated feature film feel. It felt like I was watching the pilot episode of a TV series on a very very big screen TV. Which, all things considered, I guess I was.
Regarding Ziro the Hutt and his/her makeup, I didn't think gay. But as Hutts are asexual and go from male to female during the course of their lifetime, I just figured Ziro was in the female portion of life. On that note, I just wished they would have refered to Ziro as she and her, instead of the masculine he and him. *shrug*
I thought some of the dialog was atrocious. Examples of this were Ahsoka calling Anakin "Skyguy" several times. No padawan would be that insolent towards their master, not even Anakin himself was. Also, her continually calling Artoo, Artoo-y or Artoo-ee. That just make me wince.
Those were the major issues I had with it.
Like Palpy, I didn't have a problem with the animation style. It was infinitely better than its predecessor.
