I think the Council did it to try and give him some responsibility, so he would be more peaceful e.t.c.

It does seem a bit contrived, considering his apparent character development in ROTS, but I'll reserve judgement until I se how they explain it. Remember that it was a time of great upheaval in the galaxy and the Jedi were stretched very thinly. I do suspect that, if the story arc is allowed to play out, Ahsoka Tano and what becomes of her will play a part in what eventually leads to Anakin's fall.

It just seems strange that, considering how much of a maverick Anakin is, that they would give him a Padawan. In the trailer, it seems the son of Jabba the Hutt has been kidnapped. I'm wondering how they managed to kidnap a Hutt. Had to have been hard work.

Yes, Jabba's son has been captured. The Ashoka action figure being released in October comes with a "Huttling." I can't wait for that one.

I avoided this thread (preferring to be spoiler free), but I will say that the movie did an excellent job of explaining Anakin's role as mentor and why he was picked to have a padawan instead of Obi-Wan. It may reflect a bit into ROTS.

On the other hand, Anakin is not shown with his apprentice at all in ROTS, leaving the issue of what happened to her? Did she die? Did she become a knight? Or did she deflect or another reason not apparant. I think there needs some explanation here, unless this is treated as if it was another EU thing.

Are you talking about the Clone Wars movie? Somehow, I think that's a one-time thing.

The Clone Wars movie is just the kick off for a new series shown (in the U.S. at least) on Cartoon Network starting this October. Hopefully we will get some answers as to Tano's fate before the series ends. I'd hate to be left hanging as to why we don't see her in ROTS. Though Yoda did say he thought Anakin's true test would be in giving her up.

I find it very unlikely that she died or that she became a knight so early.

The only thing I can think of is that maybe in the movie her character isn't fully revealed and she maybe very different and what happens to her won't concern Anakin so much.. or maybe she just leaves the war and takes another Jedi occupation..

Trying to avoid cross-forum wars, I'll just say that the Clone Wars movie just brought in a few extra issues. But also, it shows the same team alliance that Anakin and Obi-Wan seem to have throughout the prequels.
