I don't know if anyone has heard, but I was just informed that Andy passed away Monday night. He had been complaining of a heaviness in his arm, leg and head for the past week and I had a bad feeling about where it was headed. Those of you who knew Andy knew what a great guy he was. He was always looking to help out his friends. In fact, the last message I got from him, the day before his hemorrhage, he mentioned that he was going to record the new Red Dwarf special for me next week. I never asked him to. He just knew I liked the show and wanted to do it for me.
He'd probably kill me for saying this, would say that it sounded a bit too gay for his comfort, but I really loved him. Like a brother, Andy. Like a brother.
Rest in peace my friend and may the Force be with you . . . always.
You will have to give Darren a pass on this. The poor guy has been with the family and trying to contact everyone he can think of. I saw that there was not an update here and thought I'd pass on the sad news. Darren couldn't even remember, in the whirlwind of the past few days, if he'd emailed me yet or not. Darren was by Andy's side at the end and has helped the family through this tough time. He assured me that the hemorrhage was sudden and that Andy didn't suffer. Thank The Force for small miracles.
Palpy, you probably have his home phone, but if not and you want to pass along your condolences to his mum, D has that info he could provide you.
When I saw the GEN homepage just now, I broke down all over again. It's a simple yet lovely tribute, just like Andy himself. We've lost a true man amongst men; the best there was.

Darren had more important things on his mind than contacting me but after the call on Monday morning from him, I thought he was still hanging on.
Thing is, just said my final goodbyes to my mother yesterday and then I find out a dear friend passes away, looks like someone up there is looking out for me and sparing my heart too much strain.
We HAVE lost a true man amongst men; the best there was.
I had noticed the other memorial you had up and thought it might have been your mum. Sorry to hear about that. Must be a really, really bad time for you. My thoughts are with you, my friend.

Wow.... This planet has truely lost one of the nicest people ever to walk its surface. My thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family. He was an awesome friend and I wish Id have had more time with him.
Well, nothing quite like the loss of someone to to bring people together... This is Mal by the way, Tal just told me the news. My thoughts are with his family. We hadn't been in touch for a while, but he really was a top bloke.
Mal, good to see you again. It's a testament to Andy that we all come together after such a long hiatus to grieve and celebrate his life. He'd be happy to see this. I called his mum last night. I'd never talked to her before, but found her to be an absolutely charming woman. She said, since his passing, she has discovered a whole side of her son that she never realized existed. I think she is now beginning to understand what a wonderful guy she raised and she is very proud of that. She still hurts very much, but the things that have been said about him and the fuss made over him have, I believed, helped to soften the blow.

Hi Anni. it's been a long time. I'm still on ICQ if you ever want to talk. Same goes for the rest of you. I'm not home during the day (US EDT) but I'd love to talk to all of you.

Oh my Lord. I've been busy that I forgot to check this forum. I'm really sorry to hear this. He was a real swell guy, and I'm going to miss him. Rest in peace, and may the Force be with him.
