Air by Geoff Ryman I finished this book a little while ago and just did a review of it
for my blog, if anyone wants to check it out. I was wondering if anyone's read it or is thinking about it?
Air's won quite a few awards over the last year and generally has been very well received, but I didn't like it at all. There's a particular part of the novel which ruins it; one of the characters becomes pregnant, but it's not a normal pregnancy - she carries the foetus in her stomach, gives birth
through her mouth. It was just so unbelievable that it really got under my skin and turned me off the whole novel.
But a lot of people are raving about
Air, including Kelly Link, one of my favourite writers, so I was wondering if anyone else has read it? I wasn't sure if the pregnancy is a difference between a man writing from a female perspective... is that something you notice in fiction as well?
