I can remember..........only just.....Episode 1....Many things I block from certain areas of my brain, but, remember 'Wipe them out, all of them', the first thing about the film that sounded 'goooooooud', these are but a few things that made a life long fan so attracted to the fresh feel Star Wars™ movies, please share your memories of the best and worst, no Gungan debates please, we've been there already;)

lol.

Best: Obi-Wan + Qui'Gon vs. Darth Maul. Still the unique part of the film saga.

Worst: Anakin Skywalker. Sounded like a whiny brat.

Best thing for me, is obi-wan vs maul, after qui-gons death.

Worst thing, the entire pod race, too long and too cartoony.

Best of Episode I - Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon vs. Darth Maul; Darth Sidious

Worst of Episode I - I don't know. I think I agree that the pod race was too long. It would have been better if it had been about 2/3 that length.

Re: whiny nine year old - I didn't find him that bad. I've seen worse. Of course, I'm a music teacher, so maybe that's why. He seemed pretty typical for a kid. I think it is more the timbre of his voice that is off-putting for people. But little boys sound like little boys, not like evil overlords. Not that some aren't evil. But Anakin wasn't supposed to be evil at that time.

It's great to see you back here, ewokmuncher. You're the best!

I rather agree with you. The length of the podrace is something of a small point, as far as I'm concerned, nitpicking, really. And in a way, I can see it being long, just to build up suspense, which duty it served well.

Some more things I loved about Episode I: The introduction of Naboo - what a gorgeous place. I rather like it the best of all the Star Wars planets. Also, Tatooine was enlarged upon - we got to see more cities there, as well as some of the aliens who lived there. I like the Gungans as a species, even Jar-Jar.

Loved the introduction of the Jedi at the beginning but didn't like the Gungan city and really didn't like the battle droids saying 'Roger Roger' What was that about?

I thought Otoh Gungah was BEAUTIFUL. I just watched Episode I last night. And the droids saying, "Roger, roger," was kind of silly, and I like silly. After all, they're battle droids, not protocol droids. They're not going to say a great deal.

Episode 1 was a terrible film that was aimed solely at creating new fans. It contained very little for fans of the original trilogy to enjoy. However i agree that the lightsabre fight between qui-gon, obi-wan and Darth Maul was very entertaining and provided one of the sagas best lightsabre duels

Best: Darth Maul and Sidious

Worst: Not enough Maul, too much Panaka, and too much over-the-top Jar Jar stupidity.

The movie is so much better when you're drunk and with drunk friends... man... that was fun.

The puking the next day - unrelated to the movie - was not so fun though.

The first thing I usually say when people ask about these movies is: "What movies?" .)

I've heard all about Jar-Jar but why did you dislike Captain Panaka? I realize he was kind of deadpan, but he wasn't offensive, at least not to me. Curious about why you didn't like him.

I thought his character was just ... blah.

If he hadn't been in the film ... would anyone have noticed? Probably not.

As to the Jar Jar, I not a die-hard Jar Jar hater. He was the comic relief for the movie. I just think if it had been done without the overwhelming over-the-top stupidity and antics, just toned it down some, there wouldn't be so much rampant Jar Jar hatred out there.

I always thought the "sitting ducks" remark was kind of lame, but that's because you just don't think of ducks as being in the Star Wars universe. Of course, "sitting banthas" wouldn't have made quite the same statement.

Best was Qui Gon and the introduction to the Jedi Council. Maul was an excellent addition as well.

Worst Not much but if I have to find something I would replace some gungan for more lightsabers.
